Low RG bowling balls can give most bowlers an edge because of their ability to read the midlane. If you are using a higher RG ball, the mass is configured more toward the outside, so it spins slower and goes farther down the lane before it starts to pick up. This results in the ball coming around the corner too hard, leaving too many ringing tens and packed nines. Lower RG, with its mass concentrated in the center, is easier to rev up and therefore begins reading or grabbing the lane a few feet earlier. This causes the ball to draw a bit of energy, producing a smoother arc, and reducing the violent flip that produces those stone taps.
